From the Garden: A Living Arrangement

Apr 23, 2025

This is the time of year when everything I imagined five years ago starts blooming into reality—literally. Almost every afternoon around 4, I head out with my snips and sometimes my cat, Chewie, who mostly eats grass and chases bees while I cut an armful of flowers. My garden, planted and nurtured entirely by me, is now in full swing—overflowing with spring’s first showstoppers and the promise of months of beauty ahead. It’s the kind of abundance that only comes with time, intention, and a little stubborn magic.

Growing up in apartments, I never had a garden of my own. So I created this one the way I make a floral arrangement: layer by layer, texture against texture, every color carefully considered. Everything here is meant to be cut—grown closely, like companions in a vase—with blooms designed to carry me from late March through early December. It’s wild and intentional at once, a living version of my work with flowers, now rooted into the ground.

As we step into the gorgeous month of May, I’m also restocking the vases I designed to hold these cuttings. They’re made with the same philosophy—crafted with care, designed to honor each stem. If you’ve been waiting to bring one home, now is the perfect moment. I hope what I’ve grown here inspires what you grow, arrange, or simply admire wherever you are.
